Welcome to Robin Hall Opticians

Robin Hall Opticians is a well established, independent opticians practice situated in Walkden, Greater Manchester, midway between Bolton and Salford.

We are open for routine care

Our practice is now open but we just wanted to be clear that this is not business as usual. The examination you are offered may be different to those you received before, depending on guidance at the time. It will take some time before services return to what you previously experienced as normal. Please be patient.

We Provide a Full Range of NHS and Private Services

We provide a full range of both NHS and private services including eye examinations, as well as provision and fitting of eye wear .

We also offer more specialist services such as the provision of low vision aids. The Learning Disability Pathway is available at Robin Hall Opticians. Please ask about this when you book your appointment.

Get Your Eyes Tested

The core of our service is the eye examination. This is not just to see if you need vision aids, but to see if there are other problems. It can provide early detection of a number of medical conditions which are treated more effectively at this stage.

About Your Eye Examination

Everyone should have regular eye examinations. Adults should have one every two years or more frequently, if the optometrist recommends. Children should have an examination at least every two years, as they are growing fast and their eyes change quickly.

The NHS provides free eye examinations at designated intervals for:

  • Children under 16
  • Those in full-time education under 19
  • All aged 60 or over
  • Diabetics
  • Those with glaucoma or over the age of 40 with family history of glaucoma

Various benefits will also give access to NHS eye examination. Please ask for further information.

Our appointments are made a minimum of 40 minutes apart, so there is plenty of time to provide you with the expert advice you need.

Spectacles, Lenses and More

If you do need spectacles or contact lenses, we will lead you through the process of selecting the best for you.

We carry a wide choice of spectacles, from free styles for NHS patients to designer frames so that you can choose the ones to suit your personality and budget. We also provide a wide choice of lenses for spectacles – light-sensitive, thinner, special coatings, for example.

If you prefer contact lenses, we can provide the full range of types available from daily disposables to gas permeable.

Hearing tests

Sam Owen comes in every Wednesday and provides a hearing service. Hummingbird Hearing is an established company and Sam will do a free ear health check to decide whether more in-depth investigation of your hearing is needed. Please contact us if you would like an appointment.
